Levels

The minisitry of education of China organize Chinese exams: Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK). There were six levels between 2010 and 2021.

Hanzis

To go from one HSK level to the next one, you will need each time to know more hanzis. Here are the requirements per HSK level valide till 2021:

  • HSK 1: 174 hanzis (150 words)
  • HSK 2: 347 hanzis (300 words)
  • HSK 3: 617 hanzis (600 words)
  • HSK 4: 1064 hanzis (1200 words)
  • HSK 5: 1685 hanzis (2500 words)
  • HSK 6: 3663 hanzis (5000 words)
